Can I register online? How does it work?

Registering online is easy and encouraged to avoid a potential wait at the SRC. To begin, you must have a network ID or set up a UREC account and will need to access urec.wsu.edu on your computer web browser. Choose the activity you wish to register for, add it to your cart and follow the easy step by step checkout process. Please note that registration for Gravity classes is ONLY taken via urec.wsu.edu.

Can I try a class before I register for the session?

Everyone can try classes for free during DEMO Week at the beginning of each semester. You can also try out a class by purchasing a one class pass for only $6.

How can I become a University Recreation fitness instructor?

University Recreation offers a Fitness Instructor Training (FIT) course to prepare participants for a job teaching at University Recreation or in the general fitness industry. The FIT course is offered every semester. To sign up, go to the certification website: /training_fitness.aspx

How can I participate in UREC Fitness, Mind/Body, or Gravity Classes?

There are several options for you to choose from when participating in UREC fitness programs.

Fitness Classes:

  • For fitness classes, you will need to purchase an individual class or a fitness punch-card.

Pick 2 Special:

  • If you are interested in participating in 2 or more classes, the Pick 2 Special is your best option. Combining any 2 classes (such as a Fitness Passport and Gravity class) will give you $10 off your purchase.  The discount is updated automatically online after you add both items to your cart.
If I haven't taken a class before, how much experience do I need in order to participate?

University Recreation Fitness classes are designed for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or experience level.  Instructors are trained to teach in ways that make it possible for new participants to enjoy the class while continuing to challenge those with experience.  Participants are able to choose from many options given throughout class so that each can get what they need on any given day.

Is there any way to find out which instructor is teaching a particular class?

In general, the class instructor will be listed on the most current schedule (fitness, mind/body, gravity, TRX, dance, martial arts) which are available to view online or at the SRC.  The class schedules are viewable as PDF's on each individual page listed below:

What is appropriate attire for each class?

The most common attire for a fitness class is a pair of shorts (or pants) and a t-shirt.  In mind/body classes, participants can wear loose or form-fitting clothing so they can easily transition into poses, postures, and exercises taught from moment to moment.  Some dance classes recommend specific styles of shoes, while martial arts & mind/body classes are commonly performed in bare feet.  It is most important that participants wear what will allow them to feel comfortable throughout class.
