    October 7 | 5:00 to 9:00 PM | Student Recreation Center

Come pick a pumpkin! This event is free and no pre-registration is required to attend.

Our pool/aquatic pumpkin patch is just the place for you to get your Fall necessity, the pumpkin! You can get in the pool and pick one out yourself or you can come in dressed and our staff in the pool will hand you the one that you point to and you can take it home. We will also have carving and painting tables for those who wish to decorate their pumpkin here at the Student Recreation Center. One pumpkin per individual. This event is first come first serve, when we run out we run out. We will have around 300+ pumpkins to give away that are donated from a local farm.

No restrictions on equipment or technique; straps, hitching, suits, sumo/conventional are all allowed. Personal records are celebrated and awarded along with best costume.

    See rules below.

    Thursday, 10/29
    5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
    Chinook B40
Free Entry, Up to 35 Participants

    Register by Oct. 28

    THE RULES

    1. This event is for the deadlift only.
    2. Participants will join one of 3 divisions listed below. Bar weight will start light and increase by 15lb-25lb increments until there are no lifters remaining or they have completed the final weight for their division.
    3. Each Participant must successfully lift the weight in order to progress to the next round.
    4. Participants are sent to the graveyard (eliminated) for failing any attempt. Stay alive as long as you can!
    5. Prizes will be given to heaviest lift, any PRs, and a variety of secret awards to be given at the end. Stick around!
      • In the event of a tie, the lifter with the higher DOTS coefficient will be given the award.

    LIFT CRITERIA

    1. The bar will be loaded on the platform in a position parallel to the front of the platform. Platform will be free of any unnecessary equipment including deadlift jacks.
    2. Once bar is loaded, the lifter may take up to 60 seconds before beginning their attempt.
    3. Lifter assumes a position facing the bar. Sumo or conventional stances are allowed.
    4. The attempt begins when the bar leaves the floor.
    5. The bar is pulled in an upward motion until the lifter is standing erect with knees locked and shoulders slightly behind the bar when viewed from the sagittal plane.
    6. Once lockout is attained and the bar is motionless, the bar is lowered under control with both hands back to the ground.
    7. No commands will be given. It is up to the lifter to ensure lockout is attained before lowering the bar.
    8. Hitching is allowed. Bar path going up-down-up on the way to lockout is not reason for disqualification.

    EQUIPMENT

    1. Allowed equipment: chalk, belt, straps, wraps, sleeves, and suits.
    2. Foot coverings are required. If you choose to lift without shoes, you must still be wearing socks.

    QUESTIONS

    1. Is there a cost for entry? Registration is free!
    2. What are the rules for equipment? Can I use straps? This is an “anything goes” event. You can use straps, sleeves, belts, suits, hitching, no shoes, whatever it takes!
    3. Will there be warm up space? There will be some bars nearby to warm up for deadlifts. Also keep in mind that you must complete the required intervals, so a majority of your warm-ups can be completed on the platform.
    4. Is this sanctioned? Nope! This is all just for fun.
    5. Are there prizes? Yes, we have a wide variety of prizes. Not just for the heaviest lift, but also for PRs and other secret awards. Stick around until the end!
    6. Can I bring my friends? You must be registered to compete, and we will have a seating area for anyone who wants to watch.
    7. Am I strong enough to compete? This event is designed to celebrate all skill and strength levels. We just want to have fun!

    SCHEDULE

    1. Arrive a half hour before competition for weigh in, attempt selection, and to get familiar with the equipment.
    2. Be present for rules briefing 10 mins before competition.
    3. Event starts at 5:30 PM with 95 lbs on the platform.
    4. Awards and prizes given out after competition ends.
